Unifi 10GB Aggregation Switch

Mark, January 25, 2025

The usage of this is simple – 8 SFP+ ports to connect all your other devices via 10GB connections via SFP+ connections only. Previously I was using a US-16-XG switch which, essentially, has more connectivity than the Aggregation Switch with 10GB ethernet ports (I havent sold this yet, it’s in…

Unifi UDM Pro

Mark, January 25, 2025January 25, 2025

Top of the rack is the Unifi UDM Pro. I love this. It runs the whole Unifi software stack, which for me is the controller and Unifi Protect, and as per the previous post it runs all of this very well. Currently given my home setup I have no need…

Unifi Network Dashboard v9

Mark, January 25, 2025January 28, 2025

Have to give note to the Unifi software that makes it all possible. The dash is very straightforward. I wish that ISP software was this comprehensive. There’s a big push for pfsense for those who want completely DIY setups and I can respect that, for me though the integration of…

Network Topology

Mark, January 25, 2025

This may be a little small to see, but this is my entire network. Please note that not every entry is a physical machine, they may be virtual machines (VMs) or containers. The scale of this is basically just my DeskPi Rackmate and contents (so a Pi4, 5 and MS-01),…

Home-Based Services

Mark, January 25, 2025

Just before we get into the rest of the rack, I thought it might be useful to discuss why I want a lot of this connectivity. Mainly this is to distribute my home-based services. Right now, I am running the DeskPi RackMate T1 mini rack. It used to hold several…

Sponsor Me Ubiquiti!

Mark, January 25, 2025January 28, 2025

Seriously, I’d love to get my hands on an E7 AP and an updated UDM Pro Max or SE! Alas, for now, my wallet is holding me hostage. Sigh.

U7 Pro Wifi Access Point

Mark, January 25, 2025January 28, 2025

I figured that it would be best to start at the top. My main wifi access point for the house (a two up two down mid-terraced victorian stone walled house) looks a bit weird forward facing, however as I currently live in a rental accomodation, I can’t just screw things…

Unifi Toolless 6U Rack

Mark, January 25, 2025

Let’s begin by talking about the rack. As I said below, I migrated from a 25U rack. To be honest, I never really used every unit of space in the 25U, but it was an amazing buy as Covid started in 2020 that kept me from going, well, at least…

The Current Setup

Mark, January 25, 2025

I thought I would give a good first post by defining my current setup and it’s uses. To anyone who is familiar with Unifi gear, this will all look standard. Mostly this is enough to power a small business of 10-50 people, for me, it’s just enough to give me…

Introduction
I am just a guy who loves Unifi products. I mean, it's great, right? Expensive but it does the job. And gosh-darn it, every generation of products they produce have just more and more blinky lights, and even next-gen GLOWY lights! Amazing. Just my journey through the Unifi Universe.
