Meet EuGenie. She’s a beauty, and obviously as she is female she is better than Eugene.
This is the DXP4800 Plus. My backup server that replaces the old rackmount Synology RS812 that I bought from eBay for £100 (which is still hanging around, I mean ffs how do I even ship that thing).
And it’s alright.
I love the look of the UGREEN NAS lineup, minimal but still flashy and classy somehow at the same time. At the minute it has 4x 2TB drives, as well as 2x 2TB NVMe drives to house my Plex library and evergrowing list of backup files that can sit on the spinning rust.
My main NAS is still the UNAS Pro. To be honest, the UNAS Pro was probably a better purchase, and to buy one again as a backup NAS would have been more intelligent but I really wanted to give the UGREEN a go and it seems to be, at least, fine for the job that it’s doing.
The Pro has a 2.5gb and 10gb ethernet solution. I have this running into an ethernet to SFP+ converter into my UniFi Aggregation switch. It works okay. Maybe one day I will have the money and opportunity to by a UCG Fiber so I no longer need the converter and all will be good. Yes, I do have the old UniFi 10gig switch but its noisy and kinda broken, and I dont want to use it right now. Plus there’s no space in the 6U toolless rack so it’s a no-go.
All in all, this thing sits quiet until I need it, the OS is responsive, and Docker support means that if I ever do want to do something else with it then I can. I am tempted to switch it to my Plex server but there’s really no need as my MS-01 and UNAS Pro are pulling the weight just fine.
Love it.
