This is the main switch for my stack. The main usage for this switch is the PoE powering of my G5 Turret camera and the U7 Pro access point. I also have a G3 Flex camera powered by a Unifi Device Bridge, and one of the USB only powered (and wifi connected) G3 Instant Cameras upstairs for security purposes.
All of the ethernet ports on this switch are 1GB, there’s also two 10GB SFP+ ports for uplink onto my Aggregation Switch.
Ultimately, I feel the same about this as I do about the Aggregation Switch. It just works. It’s boring. Within the Unifi control panel I can set the connectivity speeds of all the ports, I can see what I am doing via the augmented reality app and the IOS app, I WISH that this had a few 2.5GB ports but at the end of the day this switch works amazingly well. Previously I was using a 24 port 1GB switch with no PoE, using injectors to power the AP but it is so much easier having one cable and nothing else to worry about with a PoE switch.
I’d give this a 10/10 for usability. I could deduct points for how boring it is and how well it works, but I suppose that’s what we buy these for! Reliability and rock solid performance has made this one of my favourite pieces of my network stack. There’s also lots of room for upgrading in the future, and I never have any doubt that when I plug something into this bad boy, that it’s going to connect to my network flawlessly.
I only wish that money, women and relationships worked out so well…. ehm, but I digress.
